ArticlesInternet BankingHow Internet Banking is Different than Online BankingWe would like to describe the difference between Internet Banks and Online Banking. Online Banking is a service that most of our brick and morter banks provide. For example, if you have an account with Bank of America they give you access to your account via the web. You can view your statments, pay bills, transfer funds between accounts, etc. Basically, online banking lets you access your brick and mortor bank account via the web. Internet Banking differs in that you do not have a brach bank and everything is done virtual over the web. In this respect it's similar to an online brokerage account like Ameritrade, etc. There is no branch you can "walk into", no bank tellers to visit. Internet Banks typically to not charge a monthly fee, don't have account minimums, no fees, penalities, etc. You don't have to change your Brick and morter bank account becasue your internet bank account can send and request funds from any other account. Deposits and withdrawals are made by ACH (Automated Clearing House) requests from/to your linked checking account and your normal bank. Internet banks can pay higher interest rates because they don't have the overhead of brick and morter banks. They are also fully FDIC insured against losses and typically backed as a division of a solid financial institution. The most popular Internet Bank is EmigrantDirect.com. Their American Dream Savings Account always pays the best interest rate on deposits. Find out more: EmigrantDirect.com Related Articles:
